We provide Fire & Emergency Services to property owners in our district including parts of the following communities: Palmerdale, Pinson, Bradford, Clay, Warrior, Trafford, and Morris.
Origin of Palmerdale Fire District
In 1972 residents of Palmerdale witnessed the burning of a home in the community and were moved to investigate the possibility of forming a fire district. The two churches in the community, Palmerdale United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church, Palmerdale agreed to share the cost to hold an election that would allow a vote on two issues: (1) whether or not to have a fire district and (2) how it would be financed. On December 19, 1972, by a vote of 112 to 22, the Palmerdale Fire District was formed with an annual service charge (Fire Dues) established to finance the district.
Palmerdale Fire District started as all volunteers covering just the Palmerdale Community. Over the years more areas have been annexed into the Fire District including portions of Pinson, Bradford, Clay, Warrior, Trafford and Morris. Beginning in 1986, the first paid firefighter was employed. Fast forward to today, we have two stations staffed 24/7 by professional firefighters. Most of our firefighters also have medical training and we have two rescue/ambulances to transport sick or injured patients to the hospital. A lot has changed since our humble beginnings.
